Mission Statement
The mission of the counseling program at Hawthorne Elementary School is to pursue proficiency in academics, social/emotional, and behavioral development by following a holistic approach to wellness. It delivers intentional, individualized, data-driven preventions and interventions to support equitable opportunities to students. With the support of parents, administration, teachers, and the community, all students will have access to resources and support to help them achieve their full potential.

Services
Guidance and Counseling services are provided by a licensed mental health professional. Students, parents, teachers, and staff may consult with the counselor on a confidential basis. School Counselors provide the following counseling services:
- Classroom guidance lessons
- Small groups: Opportunities to help students develop various skills in a smaller group setting.
- Short-term counseling: Addresses immediate student needs upon referral within 6 sessions. Students are referred out afterwards if needed.
- Community resources and outside referrals
All school counselors follow the Ethical Standards for School Counselors, based on the American School Counselors’ Association guidelines. As the school counselor, I am obligated to hold in confidence, information received from students, family members, guardians, and staff members, with several restrictions based on safety issues.
If your or your child has an immediate need for help, please feel free to call the New Mexico Crisis Assistance Line (NMCAL) at 1-855-662-7474. If you are having a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.

Los consejeros escolares pueden ofrecer los siguientes servicios:
- Clases de diferentes tipos de temas
- Grupos pequeños: Oportunidades para ayudar a los estudiantes a enfocarse en varias habilidades para tener éxito en cualquier tema dependiendo en que se necesita
- Consejería a corto plazo: atiendo necesidades inmediatas de los estudiantes en cuanto soy avisada.
- Referencias externas para estudiantes y familias.
Todos los consejeros escolares siguen estándares éticos de Consejeros Escolares, basados de la Asociación Estadounidense de Consejeros Escolares. Como consejera escolar, estoy obligada a mantener confidencial la información recibida de los estudiantes, miembros de la familia, y maestros, con varias restricciones basadas en cuestiones de seguridad.
